Can I confess that my favorite part of today’s curvy paper doll to print are those amazing boots? I want them. I don’t know where I would ever wear them, but I would find a way.

For a while, Julie of Paper Doll School was making Toddler Paper Dolls inspired by some of her older paper doll sets. Like this toddler paper doll set named Riley is based on an older set named Ruby.  I thought this was a really cool idea, but wasn’t sure how to develop it my way.

On occasion readers have asked if I could redraw something from one paper doll series for a different series. I’ve always said no. Drawing the exact same outfit again sounded boring. But watching Julie’s process, I was inspired to look back at my own work and see what ideas were sparked.

So, today’s curvy paper doll to print from the B&B series is based on a Pixie paper doll named Dionsia.  The paper dolls share a color scheme and Dionsia’s clothing inspired both today’s gown and tomorrow’s gown- both for my curvy B&B paper doll series.

Today’s Printable Paper Doll Inspirations: Skinny Jeans, Mid-Century Modern Shapes and the Color Yellow.

I originally drew these printable paper doll clothing pieces to be part of a modern B&B paper doll set which, frankly, was pretty uninspired. Most of the paper doll clothing pieces were boring and simple. So, I picked out my favorite pieces and put them together into this little mini collection for the B&B paper doll series.

Can I be blunt? I like you all, so I feel like I can be blunt.

I am totally enjoying getting to post whatever I feel like. Don’t get me wrong, I can’t really call this week “random.” I carefully picked out which designs would go up and in what order. These things do matter a rather lot to me. Never the less, I like the variety in my printable paper doll designs and I hope all of you do as well.

This doesn’t mean that when the mood strikes that there won’t ever be a weekly theme ever again. For example, next week there will be, but more on that when we get there. It’s not like I could ignore Halloween completely.

Today’s set of printable paper doll clothing for the B&B series has a pair of jeans, two blouses and a matching purse. I would wear both of these blouses. The teal one would have to go under a cardigan, as I am not too keen on exposing my upper arms to the light of day.

A post-apocalyptic set of paper doll fashions

As I often do on Friday, I am wrapping the week with two of my favorite pieces from this post-apocalyptic paper doll clothing collection. Since I drew this set so long ago, I wasn’t really thinking about “outfits” while I was designing it. Putting together the outfits for each day was actually kinda challenging.

It was tough to decide which piece made the most sense with which other pieces. So, I was flummoxed with this top and these pants. They are the two most complex pieces I have in the series and I love them both, but I wasn’t sure what to pair them with. In the end, I decided to post them together, because I love their complexity and I think Friday should be celebrated.

Monday’s paper doll might, however, rather pair them with one of the simpler pieces shown below. I think the long sleeved white top would book nice with the trousers and I think the red pairs would be lovely paired with the blouse.

A Curvy Paper Doll’s Guide to Dressing for the End of the World

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I maybe going on Haitus next week. It will really depend on how my weekend turns out and what exactly happens. I spent exactly zero minutes on paper dolls this week, except posting this week’s content. That means I have no material prepped for next week. I’m not saying I won’t get my act together and manage to pull something off in the next two days, but I hate to just disappear on you all.

Yesterday one of my readers commented how nice it was that my end of the world paper doll didn’t have high heels. Well… here are some paper doll high heels, though I tend to think more on the practical side of high heels. Having actually climbed a ladder in high heels, I can attest that it is possible to do more in heels that people often think. (Assuming the heels are reasonable and not like five inch stilettos.)

Along with two pairs of boots, our paper doll has an arm warmer, gloves, googles and a head wrap and a scarf. She does lack weapons and I was a little worried about her ability to defend herself against mutant hoards or irradiated monsters, but my other B&B Post-Apocalyptic paper doll has some weapons and a canteen, so perhaps they can share.

If you missed Monday, there was a paper doll designed to wear these stylish accessories. Of course, they can be worn by any of the Bodacious and Buxom paper dolls, since they are all interchangeable.

The blog may go on a short Hiatus next week. The truth is that between fleas, my washing machine problems and other things in my life, I haven’t had time to do a lot of paper dolling. I am hoping to get some done this weekend, but if life gets busy, I wanted to give out an early warning to all y’all.

Ever have those days when really what you want to do about an hour and a half after you wake up is go right back to bed? I have had those days.

Today is one of those days.

However, here I am posting a paper doll outfit during my lunch break at work, because the blog needs to be fed and then I can look back on today and think, “Well, at least I did that successfully…”

 

So, let’s talk about paper dolls!

Personally, I think if the world ever comes to an end, I will certainly want to have some stylish red skinny jeans to see me though. Along with those, our B&B model has black finger-less gloves and a white tank top. If you missed the paper doll, you can pick her up over on Monday’s post.

Part of the fun of creating post-apocalyptic sets is the layering you get to play with. I always try to imagine things being pieced together and some things being found. It’s my favorite way to create paper doll sets is to think about the world that the sets relate too.

Today’s paper doll outfit is a white long sleeved top, a green on green striped scarf and a wrap skirt with a long pair of belts. A khaki cargo pocket is there for tucking a knife or a gun. In my head, the cargo pocket is probably from a pair of pants that have been adapted to the skirt.

Instagram is my new attempt at trying out blog stuff, but I’m not that good at it. Still, follow me if you want.

All right, we are going head out to the end of the world. This paper doll was created as the partner paper doll to World’s End.

This is an old set. I say that, but I hadn’t realized how old until I remembered that I drew it, because I watched Mad Max: Fury Road. That movie came out May 2015 which means I drew this set over a year ago.

Not that it is that uncommon for me to wait that long, but I was a little surprised when I did the math.

This was a set with a LOT of accessories. So many that I have both enough for an Accessory Thursday post and enough to scatter around the sets each day.

I am a little worried about today’s paper doll, because she doesn’t have any weapons for protection. She might need some, but I bet my unnamed Asian paper doll from World’s End would share.

I wonder if I should start naming the Bodacious and Buxom paper dolls… What do you all think? It would make it easier to refer to them.

Every week I seem to end up with a favorite dress. I sometimes like to save those dresses for Friday as a way of brightening up at the very end of the week.

Today’s dress is based on Mia’s Garden Ballgowns, a set I did in 2014 based on Wa and Qu Lolita fashions. The color scheme was a little challenging, as it was based on a kimono. I wanted to see how the same colors worked on a totally different dress style. Big fluffy ballgowns vs a simple medieval inspired one.

When I was thinking about Monday’s paper doll, I found myself thinking a lot about color. I tend to do these medieval inspired dresses in a more sedate color schemes, as I did with Phillipa, Marcus as a Warrior, Court Alchemist and In the Land of Dragons.

This time I wanted to do something more vivid and vibrant which is why I went with the rich purple for the body of the over dress and accented it with the undresses cloud blue. The “black” is actually a very very dark red and it’s a subtle thing, but I think it softens the look.

So, I am super hopeful I will get a set done for next week. I confess that it is Friday and nothing is done yet, but I want to make something for Monday. Things have just been very busy this week, so if I end up having to go on a short Haitus, I’ll make the announcement on Monday.

Today’s Accessory Thursday post is a little late and I feel guilty about that, but in my defense, let me explain.

So, remember how I said I was moving? And I did move and I love my new place. However, the previous tenant had pets.

And I discovered Monday that those pets left behind some… friends. Small jumping biting friends.

Fleas.

I reported my unwanted roommates on Monday. They sprayed the unit yesterday and I spent most of yesterday evening either out or sitting on the back patio while the unit aired out. But seriously, I have never been more happy to smell the scent of pesticide in my life.

Anyway, with all the laundry and other things I’ve been doing, there just wasn’t time to work on this blog post much.

So, that’s why its a little late.

Anyway, enough about my Adventures with Fleas! Let’s talk about paper dolls.

Today, we have three pairs of shoes. Each one is colored to match one of the three dresses, including the paper doll dress that goes up on Friday. There’s also a book and a musical instrument and some papers. I struggle a little with scale sometimes with the B&B dolls, because they have such huge heads.

(Don’t get me wrong, I like huge heads, but it makes some stuff challenging.)

Bodacious & Buxom: A Curvy Fantasy Paper Doll’s Spring Dress in Pink

I never used to like pink. I mean, I went through a phase when I was like four and I demanded that my room be painted pink. My mother kindly did this for me. Later, the room was painted a bright yellow. I distinctly recall returning from camp or something and the room suddenly being yellow. My mother had painted it while I was away, though I do at least remember that she had asked me if I minded it being yellow before she painted it. During this whole time, I refused to wear pink. Pink, I decided sometime around second grade, was not a color for me.

I’m saying all this, because I have completely come around to pink. I think it is a beautiful color. I have to stick to brighter or darker pinks in the real world, but in paper doll land, the sky is the limit on my shades of pink.

So, today’s paper doll dress was colored using the color scheme from Dreaming Princess as the base. Dreaming Princess is one of the most complexly patterned sets I have done in years and the color scheme was a real struggle. Still, I loved how the original set came out and I wanted to adapt those colors to today’s paper doll dress to print.

Every paper doll dress is a little different, of course. Yesterday, we had an autumnal scheme. Today’s dress, I think is more spring-like. I am, I confess, not totally pleased with how the hem detail turned out. I didn’t properly adjust it for the curve of the paper doll’s body. I’m a bit disappointed in myself.
