By posting my work here I am not waiving any rights. Artists who have generously shared their work here retain all rights to that work and that work is shared with permission or under the guidelines of fair use.
If you’re not sure if your use falls within my terms of use, please just ask me at paperthinpersonas(at)gmail(dot)com before you use my stuff.
The paper dolls on this site are available to print for personal use, only. They are not copyright free. Copyright on the content of this site rests with Rachel Cohen, the owner of the site and the artists who have granted her permission to post their work on this site.
The posting of another artist’s work on this site represents an arrangement between the site owner, Rachel Cohen, and that artist and does not constitute the artist’s forfeit of any rights.
The use of any work on this site for any non-personal purposes is not permitted without express permission from the owner of the work, which is in most cases myself, but may be other artists who have granted me permission to post their work.
Teachers, daycare providers, librarians or other related individuals may print multiple copies of these paper dolls for distribution to a class or event, as long as there is no fee charged for the event and that the organization putting on the event is not commercial in nature. What sorts of events qualify? Things like library story times or teachers who want a quiet coloring activity for their students. I’d still love to know about it by email (paperthinpersonas(at)gmail(dot)com), but you don’t need to ask. However, should a fee be charged for the event, or entrance into the venue (such as some museums who charge an entrance fee), please contact me directly at paperthinpersonas(at)gmail(dot)com for licensing information.
Derivative works, such as extra outfits for the paper dolls based on this work, may be created for personal use with credit and a link to the website “Paper Thin Personas” (https://paperthinpersonas.com/). Works made up solely of my copyrighted art are not considered derivative and may not be used for non-personal purposes without permission.
Exhibiting my work without credit on Social Media platforms like Twitter or Instagram is not only rude, it is also possibly a violation of my copyright. In these cases, credit must be given and a link must be provided. On Instagram (where links are difficult) please provide a credit line and tag @paperthinpersonas.
Portions of the contents of this website may be reproduced for the purpose of review or critique as per Fair Use Guidelines. A link to the site and credit must be given. Under no circumstances may the images be altered to remove credit or copyright. Extensive use of images may constitute a violation of the copyright of the owner of the site, myself.
Organizations interested in the use of the paper dolls should be aware that I do license my work and I have also done work on commission. Please feel free to contact me at paperthinpersonas(at)gmail(dot)com with inquiries.
Any of the above conditions can be waived with permission from me. If you have any questions about anything contained in this terms of use statement, please contact me directly at paperthinpersonas(at)gmail(dot)com. When contacting me, please remember that this is a hobby and while I try very hard to respond to every message that I get, I cannot always do so within 48 hours.
This terms of use statement may be amended without notice.
Why I Allow Personal Use Downloads for “Free”
I believe and despite the quagmire of AI and the current internet landscape that nothing replaces the experience for a child or adult of interacting with a physical object and engaging imagination. I can not count the number of hours I spent as a child drawing paper dolls, playing with paper dolls, cutting out paper dolls, making adventures up for my paper dolls, etc.
I want all children, regardless of economic capacity, to have that same experience. So, I don’t have a paywall. I don’t charge people to print my paper dolls and play with them on the floor or the kitchen table or wherever. I don’t want to do that and I don’t plan to ever do it.
I just ask that you also respect the massive time investment that has gone into this site since 2008 and be respectful of me and my hard work.
And if you have the extra funds and want to keep this website on the internet offering up these paper dolls, consider supporting it through Patreon.Â
Best– Rachel Cohen
