Nine Fantastic Printable Paper Dolls from December’s Past

I think I’ve mentioned already that Paper Thin Personas is turning three in January and entering it’s fourth year of life. It’s been three years since the site crashed and I had to start over from scratch. I couldn’t be more pleased with where the blog is now.

But I thought it might be interesting to look back and where PTP came from… So, for today I have combed through the archives and found nine paper dolls from December’s Past that I thought were worth featuring. Step back with me and take a look at what I was drawing two years ago. 🙂

Three Printable Paper Dolls of December 2012

Marisole Monday: In Space!

December 3th, 2012 & December 10th, 2012

december-2012-1Marisole Monday went to space as an alien in color and to be colored. I remember being conflicted about posting the ray guns. There’d been some gun violence around the time I was working on this paper doll set. People were talking about the dangers of toy guns and children. I didn’t get a single complaint about my ray guns.

Shadow & Light Number 22

December 27th, 2012

december-2012-2This paper doll has the dubious honor of being the paper doll set that I spent way to much time on the shading, only to realize I’d done it on the wrong side and having to correct it all on photoshop. I loved the outfit on the right so much that I thought it was worth it. 🙂 Actually, I love both these outfits.

Puck as SuperHero

December 9th, 2012 &December 8th, 2012

december-2012-3I got a request for some superhero Puck paper dolls. I confess openly that I wasn’t totally pleased with how the two of them seemed while I was drawing them, but I wanted to draw some male paper dolls aimed at boys and I thought for sure that boys would be into these options. In the end, I was quite pleased how they came out.

Three Printable Paper Dolls of December 2011

The African Elf

December 15th, 2011

december-2011-1I found myself stuck at my grandmother’s house over thanksgiving. I love my grandmother and my family, but a week of them can be a little intense. My solution is to hide out and draw paper dolls. Before I went there, I had a big folder full of reference images of traditional African dress from all over the continent. I knew I wanted to draw some sort of fantasy figure using the African garments the same was medieval garments have been used historically by the epic fantasy tradition. Though I see some things I’d change if I did her over again, I love most of her dresses still.

A Flock of Mermaids

December 22th, 2011

december-2011-2The first set of Flock magnetic paper dolls were these mermaids. I posed them on my fridge to get a photo of them and I remember they stayed there for months after.

Curves: Dictionary Girls in Pencil Skirts

December 14th, 2011

december-2011-3I love pencil skirts and I wear them all the time. They seemed the fitting thing to give to the Curves: Dictionary Girls for December. Also, I want both of their pairs of shoes… I’m just saying.

Marisole Monday: Modern Girl in Black and White

December 7th, 2010

december-2010-2I posted the first ever black and white version of Marisole for coloring in 2010. Wow. That feels like it was such a long time ago. I remember going back and forth about posting the paper doll for a long time. With the number of requests I get for Marisole Monday and Friends paper dolls in black and white, it seems strange to mention this but when I posted her, I mostly requests for black and white paper dolls in color.

Curves: Fantasy Girl

December 8th, 2010

december-2010-1So… before my Dictionary Girls series… there was another curvy series, known, uncreatively as Curves. Curves played a lot of rolls over the years, but one of my favorites was as this elegant elven maiden in December of 2010 though the Curves series did celebrate New Years that year with another wonderful paper doll.

Fashion Doll Friday: Florence of the 1870’s

December 10th, 2010

december-2010-3Florence began, like the first Curves series, before the site crashed in 2009. I was trying to challenge myself to draw dresses from a historical period I liked, but which had always intimidated me. I really feel like my art has improved in someways and not in others since I did Florence, but I do not, for a moment, regret drawing any of her. This was the last dress I drew for Florence which could be either a wedding dress or a dinner dress. The paper doll to wear this dress can be found back in January of 2010.

So, did I miss anyone’s favorite December paper doll? Let me know in a comment. 🙂
