Flock Modern Girl: Magnetic Paper Dolls

So, I know I said these would be up last week (or maybe the week before that), but some things came up and I didn’t get around to it. The irony is that I drew this set last year and it’s been sitting on my desktop waiting to be finished for a while.

I tried to make sure each page of this set was a consistent color scheme, so that each page can be printed and played with alone, along with combining with the other pieces in the set. I walso wanted to play a little with the options of a magnetic set of paper dolls which are different than the options for a non-magnetic set of paper doll. I think magnetic paper dolls have interesting options, but are not the same as paper paper dolls for various reasons.

  1. Love these, I made these last week for my 3 year old and she has played with them everyday. Even her little friends that are boys love playing with them! We would love some camping and hiking (or tramping as we say here in New Zealand) gear for our flock dolls. I can see flock loving escaping the rat race in the weekend, what do you think?
Also I have been thinking that magnetic paint we have here would work great for magnetic dolls, you can even get it coloured so might paint one of my daughters little tables so she can sit and play with these. Also could print dolls on card, paint back of sheet then cut out.
Thanks for making these and sharing

  2. I’ve never tried magnetic paint… so I have no idea how it would work. It would be an interesting experiment. I know some people use cookie sheets as a play surface. I’m very pleased your grand-daughter likes them (I have witnessed adult men play with them, but usually on the sly 🙂 ). I definately think the Flock could use some hiking gear… I shall see what I can do.
