It’s Monday! (I don’t feel nearly as excited about this as an exclamation point would suggest.)
Today, last week’s set of suits for my man paper dolls (specifically Marcus 2.0) get to rock some fun colors, okay, maybe not fun, exactly.
When it comes to color, modern men really don’t get a lot of options. Beyond a short stint in the 1960s and 1970s when a guy could show up in a red or purple suit, in the 20th century, men’s clothing is pretty much neutrals all around. So, today’s man paper doll got some rather simple navy and grey men’s suits.
It might not be the most “exciting” color choices, but they are wonderfully versatile if you find yourself unsure about what sort of suiting would be best.

There’s something very dashing to me about a man in a well cut suit. I don’t know what it is, but I love suits on men. I sometimes think I was born in the wrong era for men’s clothing. Hoodies and jeans are just so boring.
If you missed these paper doll suits in black and white for coloring, they’re over here. Also, if you’re unsure who Marcus 2.0 is, I’ve got a lovely guide to all that which I wrote last week after a reader request, proving that I do read comments and, sometimes, actually do what people ask.
I do sorta wish I drew some other hair for Marcus 2.0 here, but I just feel like men’s hair isn’t that exciting. It’s not unlike a lot of men’s clothing. How many ways can you style three inch hair? I mean, really. I’m sure there are nuances I don’t get. It wouldn’t be the first time.
Thoughts? Comments? Other men’s clothing you’d like to see? Drop me a note in the comments.
You know, how about jeans and button up shirts with ‘dirty’ work boots? XP
What about that gelled-up spiky hairstyle? I’ve always liked that one on a guy.
And I’m with Anon, why not some ‘distressed’ looking clothes? Jeans with holes in the knees, muddy work boots, things like that. A male fairy or pirate would also be pretty cool.
I just realized how many ideas for these guys, but I don’t want to leave a mile-long comment, so I’ll just leave it at that.
Maybe one of the things you could do is make a guy doll with different hairstyles to switch out. There are some more extreme hairstyles that could be fun, like dreads, or a mohawk, or shaved sides… or a mullet. 😛
Really, you could probably do themes with the guys along the lines of some of the themes for the ladies, like futuristic or fairy or pirate (like Ladybug said), post-apocalyptic… OOH. You could do an Egyptian set for both the guys and the ladies!
I’m gonna follow Ladybug’s example. I have a ton of ideas but I don’t want to throw a page of words at you. 🙂
i love the ideas already presented. especially Kitrona’s Egyptian one. that could include hairstyles as well.
and i never get tired of suits ~ hahaha.
i know you’re always busy with things and making new dolls and you’ve already got suggestions, but have you thought about doing more guys? you’re doing great at them!!!!! maybe doing some that goes with the girls you’ve done in the past, would LOVE to see some aliens and some historic guys!!!!! you are absolutely amazing!!!!!!
Yes, I have thought about more guys. The goal for 2016 is to make ten male paper doll sets- like these suits only count as one set, because it’s the same design, just posted once in color and once in BW. So one design, two posts.
Right now, I’ve done four guy paper dolls since January 1st.
