End of the Year Wrap Up- Plus Contest/Drawing

Back in June, I formally posted my goals for 2014. In hindsight, I think I was overly ambitious. Honestly, I don’t know what I was thinking when it come to some of them.

Still, I’m not displeased with how 2014 went which is good because it ends tonight at midnight.

I might not have gotten ten male paper dolls done, but I did finish up Marcus 2.0 and there’s two of them up now. (There will be another one of his series posted on Monday… but that’s going to be 2015.)

Meanwhile, I got one tutorial up on cleaning up linework and four featured artists (not six, but I’m at peace with that). The thing I am most proud of is that I have regularly checked out other people’s paper doll sites and regularly commented on them. This was perhaps the most important of my goals for 2015.

So, what blogs do I regularly look at? In no real order… Liana’s Paper Doll Blog, Pabernukublogi, A Paper Closet, Lina’s Historical Paper Dolls, The Paper Doll Bag and Miss Missy Paper Dolls. I read these because they are updated with some regularity.

Did I miss a really good one? Do let me know.

Meanwhile, it’s the year end, so it’s time for my annual contest.

contest-jan-2015

So, it is time to ask what people would like to see on the blog in the coming year. Post a comment with what you’d like to see up here (repeats of other requests are completely acceptable) and you’ll be entered in my drawing to win a custom paper doll.

Usual rules apply:

    1. 1. You can only win one contest a year. (I’m considering this a new year…)
      1. 2. I announce the winner (choosen via random number generator) on the blog on the day after the contest ends. I will also email the winner at their email address attached to the comment. If I do not hear back from the winner within a week, I will use a random number generator to select the next

winner.

    1. 3. The winner will receive a one page custom paper doll based on one of my paper doll series within a month of the end of the contest. This one page paper doll can not violate trademarks or copyrights (aka: I can’t draw something under some one else’s trademark or copyright).
    1. 4. If there is a delay for some reason, I will contact with winner and we will make other plans.

So, feel free to enter by posting a comment on this post about what you’d like to see on the blog in the new year. The contest will end on the 14th of January (midnight, Central time). I will announce the winner by drawing on the 15th, likely in the late afternoon since I will have to actually do the random number generator thing… you know the drill by now.

This drawing/contest is now closed. Thanks to everyone who entered. 🙂

  1. Another collaboration with other paper doll artist – any season would do – I prefer Halloween, but any will do – maybe 4th of July? or Valentines?

Definitely, Liana (if she’s willing and has time, I love her artwork) and the other ladies from the previous Halloween collaboration – You could see if Corey Jenson would do one? All his dolls eyes are closed (Me & Liana question what’s up with that, LOLOL), but still he’s a great paper doll artist (you can find him on facebook at Paper Dolls by Corey).

  2. finish the collab we started? hahahaha.

i know i vanished off the net last year, but i might come back in 2015 if i can organize a gameplan. i didn’t stop making dolls, i just stopped posting them.

but i do check in from time to time, though i have been silent.

  3. I’d love a Viking set or possibly Egyptian. Some of the historically-based time periods we don’t get to see much. 🙂

  4. A pjs set or a page of extra clothes/accessories you had to take out of other sets, if you’ve still got them somewhere, that is.

  5. Dictionary girls was my absolute favorite series. More of them would be awesome! Pretty much any style of clothes, but I confess, I do like the more ‘girly’ things;ruffles and lace, etc.

  6. You’ve had a lot of really great dolls this year. I know you didn’t mention it, but I think the site redesign is nice, too. Your line work tutorial is really good – I keep meaning to tell you that! I want to try your method myself at some point. Keep up the good work. I’m excited to see your new projects in the new year!

  7. I would Love to see some dolls inspired by comic books like Wonder Woman and Catwoman. Maybe some more Star Trek (and in black and white too, I Love to color) or even Star Wars. Lastly, how about some based on movies like The Phantom of The Opera and even some of the old black and white ones. Hope that’s not an overload, I really LOVE your dolls!!!

  8. Marisole and Friends are my favorite daolls. It would be nice to have a boho/hippie set for both Marcus and a female.

  9. lot’s of fantasy Marcus sets would be pretty sweet. Or ( I say this in every contest) a Doctor who set ( 11 Doctor Marcus and Amy Marisole). Or a Maleficent set…. One more. THE HARRY POTTER MARISOLE!!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

  10. Her Ladyship was one of my favorites of the year and the Best Friends set from 2013(?), so the occasional mini-series would be nice.
Also more Flock. I really like the outfits you’ve made for them (esp the fairytale and noir punk ones). And they’re the only ones without tabs…even when I was younger I didn’t like tabs and put my dolls out on a table or the floor so I could swap outfits more quickly.

  11. Hi
I have been a large fan and I have put alot of thought on an idea for marisole Monday, a disney theme. Of course thats too broad but classic like mickey minnie and pooh bear, I’ve even drawn ideas out to see a good idea on how they’d
look thank you 4 considering me
    Bye

  12. I love Marisole and Friends. For the girl dolls, I would love to see an outfit set based on banned books. What would be even better would be if you could put the set on while banned book week is going on. That would be awesome. More book themed outfits in general would be awesome. For the guy dolls, it would be cool to have some sports or computer geek or mad scientist. I also like Madison Kelley’s idea about a Disney theme. Thanks for all of your hard work. It is awesome!

  13. I would love to see a casual glam doll. But still kinda dressy. Thanks for considering me. I have been following your blog for 3 years now! Bye

  14. I would love to see a doll in school clothes like, tartan skirt, blazer, school shoes and some books! it would be so cool! I also wouldn’t mind seeing a gymnast! with the sparkly leo’s and some things from the rhythmic gymnastics.

    your faithful reader

    Rebekah

  15. Oh I’d like to see an early summer Marisol Monday doll. Maybe a few crop tops with high weighted shorts. I was mainly thinking a Cochella themed collection, maybe… Or… A cheerleader doll with a practice and competition outfit with some bows(yup, more than one bow)

  16. I would love to win a custom paper doll, I have so many ideas, but I don’t have a lot of suggestions on what you could do more of. Bronze Age? Ancient Crete? A pixie in the style of the Tarot of the Cat People?

OK, maybe I do have a few suggestions after all.
