Obviously, this is not a Flora post, but it was this or nothing and I figured something was better then nothing.
So, I’ve been trying to do these ten or twenty minute little doodles a few times a week to practice drawing. I thought if I posted one of them here then maybe I would be more motivated to do them. So, we shall see how well that works out. I tend to draw in stages and I often feel very stiff and worried about my work, I don’t tend to freehand anything- there’s always drafts and templates and futzing. I’m hoping by doing doodles like this my more formal paper doll doodles will become more relaxed.
I also wanted to post to assure people that I’m not dead. I’ve just been really busy. I got back from a wedding and then had class and somehow everything else had to come before paper dolls. I hope to have the blog back to normal next week complete with either a preview of the new Curves series or the actual first paper doll in the new Curves series. We shall see. I also have a new shadowed series in the works to replace Flora and a magnetic version of the Pixie paper dolls along with some stand alone paper dolls which I can’t wait to put in the Gallery. Such fun.
Until all that is finished… we have a doodle.
It is a doodle which is better then nothing, I should hope. There will be a Pixie up on Sunday.
I swear I do have some Flora things in progress, but the truth is that life hasn’t gotten less busy over the last few days. I keep meaning to sit down and ink them up, but school work and job applications and everything else has to come first. So, I’m a little behind on this, I will admit. To appease the masses, I’ve taken a page out of Liana’s book and am posting an individual paper doll. Along with my usual filler Doodle.
Download a PDF of this paper doll, if you want it.
I have a soft spot for the late 18th century, you know… right before they started cutting off people’s heads. There’s something about the Rococo period that just feels fantasy and over the top and slightly absurd. Have you seen Liana’s wallstreet dress? A fantastic example of what I mean.
I know people aren’t huge fans of filler doodles, but the truth is the other option is not posting anything at all. And I’m not willing to do that. I try very hard not to just disappear on people.
I’m kinda in love with her hair. Also, there will be a real post either tomorrow or Sunday.
In the epic struggle between sleep and paper dolls, sleep won. Enjoy the filler.
Yes, I know this isn’t a paper doll. Some day there will be a paper doll on Fridays. I swear it will eventually happen, but life gets rather busy and things get away from me.
First week of classes and my brain is already mush. I think it shall be a long semester.
Huh… I do seem to draw a lot of people with cigarettes. I blame it on watching to many old movies when I was a kid. You know, the ones from the forties like Casablanca where everyone smokes always.
And yes, I know this isn’t a regency paper doll. But I swear, I am working on it. It’s just been a hectic week.
Wee! Another filler doodle.
So, though I don’t have a regency paper doll to share yet, I do have a ((little preview pic)) to prove I am working on the paper doll, but she’s just not inked quite yet. Other then worrying about inking her, watching the second season of True Blood, and going to thrilling places like the dentist, I have been thinking about the site a lot lately.
Classes are out, so I have plenty of time to think about these things.
All right, there’s no BIG announcements today, but I do now have a Gallery of printable paper dolls for the site. These are all older dolls, some as far back as early college. It’s been kinda fun pawing through my files upon files of paper dolls looking for what is what and what I still like enough to post. It’s been kind of inspiring and I am thinking about “redrawing” a few of them for some of my newer dolls. It’s also fun, because I can see motifs which have stuck with me for years.
So, until I get home and get life organized, I fear there are going to be filler doodles on Fridays since I don’t have a fashion doll to post yet. The doll is drawn and the clothing is… forth coming.
No paper doll, just a filler doodle. Finals week owns my life.
